Welcome to Rabbitflare
What Rabbitflare is, how servers and sites fit together, and what comes with every server.
2 min read Updated
Rabbitflare is managed WordPress hosting on servers of your own. You choose a cloud and a size, and Rabbitflare builds the server, tunes it for WordPress, installs your sites and then looks after them: security updates, SSL certificates, backups, a firewall and more, all from one control panel at app.rabbitflare.com.
This page explains how the pieces fit together. If you'd rather dive straight in, the quick start takes you from an empty account to a live site in about ten minutes.
How it fits together

Northwind Shop northwind.shop

Northwind Journal journal.northwind.shop
-
Lumen Studio lumen.studio
Each site: its own Linux user, PHP, database and SSL certificate.
- Servers
- A server is a machine on DigitalOcean, Vultr, Hetzner or Rabbitflare Edge, across 63 locations on four clouds, or one you already have at any provider. Cloud servers are billed monthly, from $12 a month, however many sites they host; servers you connect yourself share one plan of $3.50 a month in total.
- Sites
-
A site is a WordPress install on one of your servers. Each gets its own database, PHP process, Linux user, SSL certificate and a free
address like
your-site.sites.rabbitflare.com. Adding sites costs nothing extra: host as many as the server can handle. - Domains
- Connect domains you already own to any site, or register new ones in the panel. Certificates are issued and renewed for you.
What every server comes with
There's nothing to install or configure. Every server is set up the same way, and every site on it gets the same care:
- A stack tuned for WordPress: Ubuntu 24.04, nginx, PHP 8.3 with OPcache, MariaDB and the Redis object cache.
- Free SSL from Let's Encrypt for every domain, renewed automatically.
- Security: a firewall in front of the server, brute-force protection, automatic security updates, and a web application firewall for each site.
- Backups: site backups to Rabbitflare Backup or storage you own, plus whole-server backups and snapshots on DigitalOcean, Vultr and Hetzner.
- Staging copies of any site, pushed to live when they're ready, with undo.
- A free global CDN for your sites' images, CSS, JavaScript and fonts.
- Everyday tools: monitoring graphs, a File Manager, cron jobs, per-site resource limits, and an activity log of every change.

The control panel
Everything happens in the control panel. The sidebar takes you to your Servers, Sites and Domains, your Cloudflare account if you connect one, and the Activity log. Billing and Settings are under Account, and Support is at the bottom.
